This Department will serve our own Band’s needs, as a leader to other Indian bands and communities. A strong Engineering and Public Works Department is vital in providing public safety, efficient operations, and healthy community growth.

We envision our Planning and Engineering section to:

• Manage consulting contracts for engineering services
• Provide work program development and project management
• Review development plans for approvals
• Provide limited contract management services
• Provide limited design and construction inspection services
• Support partnership projects
• Develop and maintain electronic mapping base and as built drawings
• Review, update, and establish standards and procedures for design, record keeping, and construction

We envision our Public Works section to operate:

• Proactively: utilizing a maintenance management system tied to the Band's geographic information system (GIS). Our equipment and infrastructure will be well-maintained, with a current five-year capital maintenance and expansion plan. We will have a gravel management plan.
• Consistently: treating and delivering water (potable and agricultural); collecting and treating sewage; collecting, recycling and disposing solid waste; and operating water dams.
• Reactively: maintaining roads and sanding in winter conditions; maintaining unforeseen infrastructure problems; and servicing new developments.
